Awaken: April 20th

Last night at Awaken was great!  We began our worship service by singing several songs together.  After some singing and some prayer Kristine Vainovska was introduced.  Kristine talked to us about Latvia.  We learned where Latvia is, some history of the country, some UMC in Latvia history, and then we learned some of the needs of the United Methodist Church in Latvia.  Kristine shared with us the story of how she came to be where she is now.  Hopefully last night might have sparked some interest in Latvia and inspire some involvement in the future.  We will periodically post updates on our blog on what has been going on in the UMC of Latvia.  This is an exciting partnership that we have entered into and I know you will all want to stay updated!  We closed our worship service with some prayer time.  In worship services in Latvia there is the opportunity to light a candle as you pray and we were able to do that last night.  We were able to learn several things from Kristine as I know she was thankful to hear from us and learn some things from us too.  Thanks to all of you that were able to make it out last night!  Kristine presented us with a couple of gifts that you will be able to see if you come up to Awaken.  She gave us a magnet from Latvia and also a book that provides pictures of Latvia to get a glimpse of some of the wonderful scenery there in Latvia.  Thank you Kristine for join us last night!
Come and join us next week at Awaken.  Justin Mikulencak will be speaking and we will talk about how God has been working in your life.  Tell a friend and bring another friend with you next week.  Kevyn Kersen will be back with us to play some drums, so you will get a chance to see Kevyn again.  Kevyn played drums with us a little over a year ago and was stationed in Key West with the United States Coast Guard.  Kevyn likes to jam with us when he comes back to town.  Worship will begin at 8:00pm, but feel free to come up as early as 7:00pm for some coffee, cookies, and a little fellowship before worship starts.  See you soon!

These are the gifts that we were given last night!

Friends of Latvia Sunday

Meadowbrook United Methodist Church is excited to have friends coming to visit and worship with us!  On Sunday, April 18th we will have Rev. Gita Mednis preaching in the pulpit on Sunday morning.  Rev. Mednis will preach on Matthew 16:24-25 and she will take us by the hand and lead us to a deeper spiritual understanding of how God through Chris can minister to us as we open our minds and hearts. “Thirst  Comfort  Action” is the sermon title.  The morning worship service on Sunday begins at 10:50am.  This will be followed by a potluck lunch in the Fellowship Hall at noon.

Kristine Vainovska will be with us at Awaken on Tuesday night, but if for some reason you can not make it out to Awaken then I would encourage you to come on Sunday and meet Kristine.  She will be speaking to the Covenant and Wesleyan Sunday school classes in the Fellowship Hall on Sunday morning at 9:40am.  Feel free to come to that.  Come to both if you would like.

Remember though — This Tuesday — Come to Awaken and meet Kristine!
