Awaken: October 26th

This week at Awaken we had Jason Nix out to lead us in worship.  Jason introduced us to several new songs and did a great job.  I am sure we will hear more of these songs in the future!  We had plenty of coffee and a whole bunch of “pigs-in-a-blanket” thanks to Mel Strom for providing us with the snackage.  Delicious.  Matt Roper lead us in some discussion.  We talked about Faith, Hope, and Love.  We talked about the connection between them all and in particular we talked most about Hope.  Thanks Roper!  Come out and join us next week at Awaken.  We will be back with full band.  Bring a friend and we will see you soon.

Check back later this week for prayer request.

Awaken: October 19th

AWESOME!  We opened with several songs.  The band introduced a couple of new songs this week.  We introduced Beautiful Collision and Deliver Me, both by David Crowder Band.  After some songs we talked about the word “awesome” and what it means.  Mel Strom led us in the conversation.  We watched a clip of some people doing some things that seem to be pretty awesome, but is it really awesome, or is that just the watered down version of the word awesome?  Awesome is found in the NIV translation of the bible 34 times!  The word awesome means to inspire awe.  The word awesome means to be inspired by an overwhelming feeling of reverence, admiration, fear, etc., produced by that which is grand, sublime, extremely powerful.  We talked about things that we experience that are truly awesome.  Most of the time when we use the word “awesome” we are not talking about some that is truly awesome are we?  We are usually just talking about something that is really impressive.  We are usually just talking about some guy that does back flips, some neat car, or someone doing something crazy!  Mel challenged us this week to think about being awesome and the awesome moments that we have throughout the week.

Do not be terrified by them, for the LORD your God, who is among you, is a great and awesome God.  -Deuteronomy 7:21

And who is like your people Israel—the one nation on earth whose God went out to redeem a people for himself, and to make a name for yourself, and to perform great and awesome wonders by driving out nations from before your people, whom you redeemed from Egypt?  -1 Chronicles 17:21

How awesome is the LORD Most High, the great King over all the earth! -Psalm 47:12

Come and see what God has done, how awesome his works in man’s behalf!  -Psalm 66:5

Check back here later this week when I can get the prayer concerns up on here.

Come and invite a friend to join us next week when we welcome Jason Nix to lead us in worship.  Jason has been leading worship in several different churches for several years.  Come out next week and be a part of Awaken.  Worship starts at 8:00pm, but you can come as early as 7:00pm for fellowship and food and stuff.

See you here!

Awaken: October 12th

Last night at Awaken we had a blast.  People started showing up around 7:00pm and it was great to just take some time and hang out with each other and find out what has been going on with everybody lately.  Worship started around 8:00pm with a few songs.  We will try and get some video up on the blog from those songs later this week, so keep checking back to watch the videos.  Kyle Howton led us in some discussion after we sang some songs.  Kyle continued on what we talked about last week.  We talked more about how we prepare ourselves for worship.  Thanks for leading us in some convo Kyle!  After some discussion we had a little time of personal prayer and meditation.  We took some time throughout the service to fill up the prayer request board we have added to the service.  You can see those request below in the picture (click the picture to make it bigger).  Then we closed with one last song together.  An overall great night at Awaken!  I want to encourage you all to invite a friend to come with you next week.
