Awaken: March 30th

Tonight we had a celebration!  We began our worship with several songs and some prayer.  After some singing we went into a time for our message.  We talked about the discipline of Celebration.  We have been using this Open Source format and sermon style for the last two months.  We talked about making Celebration a part of our everyday lives.  It is easy to Celebrate when times are good, but we talked about the importance in celebrating even when you don’t see much to celebrate.  There is always something to celebrate!  The angels prepare the way for Jesus talking about the great Joy that is to come to all people and Jesus leaves this world telling his disciples of his Joy, “These things I have spoken to you that my joy may be with you, and that your joy may be full.”  Jesus Celebrated!  We talked about Joy in Celebration and the two going hand in hand.  After this we had a time of prayer in which we meditated and focused on the spiritual disciplines that we have been talking about over the past couple of months.  We then closed with a song and a benediction.  This was a great night.  Afterwards we all decided to go celebrate at No Frills Grill over some food.  Come and join us next week, Justin Mikulencak will bring the message.  Don’t miss out.  Bring a friend with you and we will see you soon!

Open Source – Celebration

Come and join us for worship tomorrow night!  Feel free to come on out around 7:00pm, Worship starts at 8:00pm.  We will be concluding our series that we have been doing this Lent.  We will be talking about the discipline of celebration using our Open Source format.  This is going to be a great night, so bring a friend and don’t miss this.  We will see you soon!

Awaken: March 23rd

We had a great time last night at Awaken.  We began our worship with several songs and some prayer.  After some singing we went into our Open Source sermon series.  Last night we talked about worship and the discipline of worship.  We talked about what worship is to us and we shared some ways and times we worship.  We talked about worship being when we know, feel, and experience God in our lives and in a gathered community.  We talked about worship being a response and as Paul says in Romans, “the only reasonable response is worship”.  We learn to worship by worshipping.  Practice is something that we have discovered is important in all disciplines.  This was a great night and it was great to hear all of the wonderful comments and some of our struggles that we can share with each other as a faith community.  Come and join us next week at Awaken as we conclude our Open Source Sermon Series on the Spiritual Disciplines by looking at the discipline of celebration.  Bring a friend to join you and we will see you soon.  Check out the prayer board in the next post.

Some steps to help experience worship…
Practice the presence of God daily.
Have many different worship experiences.
Find ways to prepare for the gathered experience of worship.
absorb distractions with gratitude.

“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, as you teach and admonish one another in all wisdom, and as you sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs with thankfulness in your hearts.” – Col. 3:16

Open Source – Worship

Come tomorrow night and worship with us.  We will continue our series on the Spiritual Disciplines in the Open Source Style format of sermon (if you are wondering what this is you can go back through our recent weeks to check it out or just come and find out tomorrow).  We will be talking about the discipline or Worship.  What is it? How do we do it? Why do we do it? How can I live the discipline of Worship?  Come and ask questions, find answers, and worship with us.  Bring a friend to join you if you would like (we would like that).  Worship starts at 8:00pm, but you can come on out as early as 7:00pm.  See you soon!

Prayer Board – March 16th

We invite you to share your prayer requests, joys, and celebrations with us that you would like us to pray for.  If you have something to add to the prayer board please drop us a comment on this post so that we can see it and be in prayer with you.  We hope that you will be in prayer with us as well.  Come and join us on Tuesday nights!

Awaken: March 16th

Last night at Awaken we had a great crowd.  We missed all of you that were out on Spring Break!  We began our worship with several songs (Corey and Patrick led the music tonight).  After singing some songs we dove into our Open Source sermon on the Discipline of Service.  We looked at the scripture when Jesus washes the Disciple’s feet.  We talked about what service is and times we have served or been served.  Then we talked about what it means to live the discipline of service.  We also talked about what service looks like in everyday life (common courtesy, bearing each others burdens, sharing the Word of life, and so on..).  This was a great night.  Come and join us next week as we continue our Open Source sermon series.  We will be talking about Worship.  What is worship?  Bring a friend with you next week and we will see you soon!

St. Patrick’s Day!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Prayer of St. Patrick

Christ be with us, Christ before us, Christ behind us,
Christ in us, Christ beneath us, Christ above us,
Christ on our right, Christ on our left,
Christ where we lie, Christ where we sit, Christ where we arise,
Christ in the heart of every one who thinks of us,
Christ in every eye that sees us,
Christ in every ear that hears us.
Salvation is of the Lord,
Salvation is of the Christ,
May your salvation, O Lord, be ever with us. Amen

Open Source – Service

Come and join us tomorrow night at 8:00pm for worship.  Feel free to come on out as early as 7:00pm.  This week we will continue our “Open Source” sermon series on the spiritual disciplines.  Tomorrow night we will be talking about Service.  What is service?  Why do we serve?  How do we serve?  Who do we serve?  When can I serve?  Come and ask questions and share some answers with us!  Bring a friend with you tomorrow night and we will see you soon!
