Awaken: April 18th

Last night at Awaken we had a great time with some acoustic worship.  We began our worship with several songs.  Then we got right into the message.  We are in the middle of our “Means of Grace” series.  We are using this time of Lent to look at how we are in relationship and connected to God.  Last night we talked about solitude and silence.  Solitude is a means of grace.  We watched a short video from Rob Bell and then discussed how we find solitude.  After we brought the message together we had a time for prayer and meditation and then closed with one last song.  Thanks to all of you who made it out!  Come and join us next week at Awaken – Monday nights 8:00pm.  See you soon!

Means of Grace – Solitude

Come and join us tonight as we talk about Solitude as a Means of Grace.  Solitude can be difficult today.  There is always so much going on and many of us are always so busy.  This will be a great night to talk about Solitude and share some ways in which we can find solitude, and how does solitude act as a “Means of Grace”?  Come and talk with us.  See you tonight!

Awaken: March 7th

Last night at Awaken we had a great night of worship.  We began our new series called “Means of Grace”.  Last night we began our worship with several songs and then jumped right into what we called, “Experiencing Means of Grace”.  This was set up similar to prayer stations and it gave us a quick introduction to some of the things that we will be talking about during this season of Lent.  Lent begins March 9th.  Around the room we had several stations set up where you could get a glimpse of these Means of Grace.  We will be discussing prayer, fasting, simplicity, service, and solitude over the next 6 weeks before Easter.  We will not have Awaken next week – the university will be closed for Spring Break.  Come and join us on March 21st as we get into these Means of Grace.  See you soon.  And stay safe over Spring Break.

Experience Means of Grace

Come and join us tonight for Awaken.  Worship will begin at 8:00pm and we will be back in our regular meeting place, the Baker building on the campus of Texas Wesleyan University.  In preparation of the season of Lent we are beginning our new series tonight.  The Mondays that we meet during Lent (the time leading up to Easter) we will be talking about different ways we are in connection with God and how we develop our relationship with God.  We will be looking at the disciplines of Solitude, Simplicity, Service, Prayer, and Fasting.  Each one of these means of Grace can transform us.  Tonight we will have an introduction to each of these spiritual disciplines.  Come out tonight and get a preview of our teaching in Lent.  We hope you will join us for worship!  Bring a friend and we will see you soon!

Awaken: March 9th

We had a great worship service tonight at Awaken.  We began our worship with several songs.  After singing some songs we got into our “Open Source” lenten sermon series where we are looking at different spiritual disciplines and sharing what we know and learning some new things.  This week we talked about Solitude.  Solitude is not loneliness.  Jesus sought out solitude many times throughout his ministry, beginning with 40 days in the desert.  We talked about some ways we can experience solitude and shared some ideas and thoughts that we had.  This was a great night!  Afterwards we closed with a time of prayer.  Come and join us next week as we talk about Service.  Bring a friend to join us and we will see you soon.

Open Source – Solitude

Come on out tomorrow night and worship with us.  We will be continuing our Lenten series on the Spiritual Disciplines in an Open Source format.  You will not want to miss this week.  We will be talking about solitude.  Come and share with us and find out about solitude.  Worship starts at 8:00pm, but feel free to come on out as early as 7:00pm.  See you tomorrow night!
