Awaken: December 28th

Our last Awaken of 2008!  We had a great night.  We had some cereal and powdered donuts on hand for all who wanted them, and some great coffee too.  We began our worship with a couple of songs and that included a couple that we learned last week.  Mel Strom began a 5-week series on Water.  This week we talked how water nourishes us.  Physically and Spiritually.  For the next 5 weeks we will be talking about water.  We are also going to be raising money for theWaterProject.  At the end of the 5 weeks we will determine where the money will go.  Check out thewaterproject.org to learn about it!  Then come the next several weeks to learn even more.  Tell a friend about Awaken and then bring them on Sunday.  See you soon.

Awaken: December 21st

This week at Awaken we celebrated the Advent season!  We had pastries in all the way from the Czech Stop in West, Texas and some homemade breads and coffee of course.  We sang several Christmas songs and other songs!  We talked about the Advent wreath and what it is and what it is about and why we have it.  We lit the candles and we are ready for Christmas!  Roper sang a song by Dave Matthews called, “The Christmas Song” and we all sang What Child is This?.  After some prayer time we introduced and new song and closed with it.  The song is called Here Is Our King and it is by David Crowder Band and if you missed it I am sure you will hear it again soon!  It was great to see so many people there this week.  Come and join us next Sunday at Awaken.  Tell a friend and we will see you soon!

Advent and Christmas

Come and join us this Sunday (December 21st) for a special Awaken.  We will be celebrating Advent and Christmas!  Come on up as early as 7:00pm.  We will have some coffee, little food, a bit of music, and fellowship!  Worship will start at 8:00pm.  Bring a friend with you and we will see you Sunday!

Awaken: December 14th

We had a great night last night at Awaken and that is not only because the Cowboys won!  We had some dips and hung out a little before worship started and watched the Cowboy game.  We started worship at 8:00pm with a couple of songs.  We then watched one of Rob Bell’s nooma videos called “Name”.   After the video we had a time of prayer and Patrick played a song called, “Who am I”.  After some time of prayer we closed our worship with another song!  I want to encourage everybody to come out next week as we celebrate Advent and Christmas at Awaken this coming Sunday.  You will not want to miss it so come on up and hang out with us, worship with us, and there will probably be a little bit of food.  Invite a friend to come with you.  This is going to be a great evening.  Come on up as early as 7:00pm on Sunday and hang out with us before worship.  Worship will start at 8:00pm.  See you and your friends on Sunday!

100 Days of Prayer is coming!

Awaken: December 7th

This week at Awaken we had a great turn out and a great night!  We had some of Lois’s famous Tea Cake and some delicious coffee made by Kyle.  We began our worship with a few songs… Sweetly Broken, Beautiful Collision, Come Ye Sinners Poor and Needy, Here I am to Worship.   After a couple of songs Mel Strom led the discussion.  We talked about Advent and what it is and why we have it.  We talked about the nativity seen of the past and what it might look like now.  We are waiting in anticipation for Christmas.  After a little discussion we had some prayer time.  Patrick played “Whatever You’re Doing” and then we closed our worship with Unfailing Love.

The mission of PROJECT-44 is to maximize the effectiveness of all available resources while providing for and fulfilling the needs of others.

PROJECT-44 provides vehicles to those in need of reliable transportation who are unable to afford purchasing a vehicle on their own, to help in their efforts to become self sufficient.

Meadowbrook United Methodist Church recently worked with PROJECT-44 in the donation of car #7.

Awaken: November 30th

The last Sunday in November and the first Sunday of Advent!  We celebrated the first Sunday of Advent last night at Awaken.  We also celebrated Manda’s birthday which was on the 29th!  We began our worship with several songs and then Kyle Howton lead the discussion.  He talked about little about Simeon and Advent.  We talked about listening for God and how that would look and what that would be.  Afterwards we had some prayer time and Patrick played a song called, “All I Can Say” by David Crowder.  After some prayer time we closed with another song and then hung around a little bit to finish off that coffee and apple pie.  Check out the prayer board from the night below.  It was great to see so many of you out last night.  Come and join us next week for Awaken.  8:00pm is when worship will start.  Feel free to come as early as 7:00pm to hang out and enjoy that delicious coffee that Kyle makes!  See you soon!
