Awaken: November 17th

This past Tuesday night we had a great time at Awaken.  We sang a couple of songs to begin our worship.  Matt Roper led us in worship.  After singing some songs together Justin continued our message series talking about words or phrases that you hear in church that might be a little hard to understand.  This week we talked about faith.  We talked about what faith is and we talked about Peter and Peter’s faith.  Justin talked about Peter and walking on water, suggesting that he did not lost faith in God, but he lost faith in his ability to follow God.  Think about that for a little bit.  After our message time we closed with some time for prayer and a song. Come out and check out Awaken next week.  Bring a friend with you and we will see you soon.

Church Talk #3

Tonight Justin will continue our series.  We are talking about some of the words or phrases we hear around the church that are sometimes hard to understand.  Last week we talked about “the body of Christ”.  The week before that we looked at the word “redemption.”  Come on out tonight to find out what we will be talking about.  You will not want to miss this!  Bring a friend with you and we will see you soon.

Awaken: November 10th

We had a great night at Awaken!  We began our worship with several songs. Justin continued our series on talking about some of the words/phrases that we hear in church that we might be unclear on.  Last night we talked about “The Body of Christ”.  We looked at the phrase and talked about what that means and what that looks like.  After a time for some message, we had a time for prayer.  We closed our worship with a song and time of prayer.  After worship we all went down to the kitchen and baked 10 dozen cookies for Kairos.  Kairos is a prison ministry you can check it out here.  Come and join us next week as we continue to talk “Church Talk”.  Bring a friend with you and we will see you soon!

Church Talk #2

Tomorrow night Justin will continue the series we started last week.  We are talking about some of the words that are frequently used in church and getting a better understanding of what those words mean.  Last week we talked about Redemption.  Come and find out this Tuesday what we will be talking about!  Worship starts at 8:00pm.  Feel free to come as early as 7:00pm.  Kyle will be bringing what is known as “beaver nuggets”… I am not sure what that is, but if you want some of that come on.  See you all soon!

Awaken: November 3rd

We had a great night last night.  Denise Howton got us a delicious German Chocolate Bunt Cake that was enjoyed by all! Thanks Denise!  We began our worship with several songs.  Actually we introduced four new songs last night.  ”Wholly Yours”, “From the Inside Out”, “How He Loves”, and “Hear Our Prayers”.  After we sang several songs Justin Mikulencak led us in a new series talking about some common words we hear in the life of the church, but can be intimidating when we don’t understand what they mean.  Last night we talked about redemption.  We talked about what redemption is and talked about redeeming love.  After some message time we had a time for prayer.  Then we closed our worship with one final song.  Come out and join us next week as we talk more about “Church Talk”.  Bring a friend or two with you.  This week tell a couple of people about the worship service you attend and invite them to come out and join us for worship.  See you all soon!

Next week after Awaken we will be baking cookies for a Karios Ministry that will be leaving on the 15th.  This should take about 30 minutes after Awaken, so plan to stick around for a little bit to bag up some cookies and pray for them!

Church Talk #1

We are beginning a new series at Awaken this Tuesday.  For the next four weeks (all in November) we will be looking at some of the words that are used at church and get a better understanding as to what they mean.  Justin Mikulencak (pictured below) will be leading this series.  You may know Justin from drumming with us starting this back September.  Tomorrow we will be exploring the word Redemption.  Come and worship with us.  Worship begins at 8:00pm, but you can come out as early as 7:00pm.  Invite a couple of friends to come out with you and we will see you soon.

Also added bonus… The band has several new songs that will be introduced tomorrow.  Get excited!

Grace Like Rain

Grace Like Rain
Todd Agnew

Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound
that saved a wretch like me
I once was lost, but now I’m found
was blind, but now I see so clearly

Hallelujah,
grace like rain falls down on me
Hallelujah,
all my stains are washed away
washed away.

Twas grace that taught my heart to fear
and grace my fears relieved.
How precious did that grace appear
the hour I first believed.

When we’ve been there ten thousand years
bright shinning as the sun.
We’ve no less days to sing Your praise
Than when we first begun.

Awaken: October 27th

Last night at Awaken we had a great time.  We began our worship with a couple of songs.  After that, we continued our series called, The Songs We Sing.  Mel Strom talked with us about “Grace Like Rain” by Todd Agnew.  We talked about the three types of grace.  Provenient Grace, Justifying Grace, and Sanctifying Grace.  We talked about what each of those means and looks like.  After that we closed by singing together “Grace Like Rain”.  This concluded our series on The Songs We Sing.  Thank you Mel!  Come and join us for Awaken next week.  Justin Mikulencak will be bringing the message.  Bring a friend or two with you and we will see you next Tuesday!
